Ski Lake Tahoe – Website Design

Ski Lake Tahoe

Ski Lake Tahoe is the cooperative organization representing the top six ski resorts in Tahoe: Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Northstar, Sierra-at-Tahoe, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows. Ski Lake Tahoe stands as the authority on all things ski-related in the Tahoe/Reno area and is a mainstay in any avid skier’s browsing history. However, SLT had hit a wall regarding how much of an undertaking maintaining had become. Weekly blog posts paired with daily promotions and manual maintenance had made the website a behemoth that took a team of digital developers to handle.

They needed to simplify and streamline the site to function more as a referral site to the resorts’ individual digital assets, shutting off its function as a catch-all information station with promotional ambiguity. D4 was the design group to make it happen, developing a stunning homepage meant to engage the curious visitor in exploring the resorts’ individual features, rather than the previous site’s bloated offerings.

Crafted as a funnel for engagement and action, the new Ski Lake Tahoe includes many interactive aspects in its responsive design, such as:

  • Custom embedded Instagram feeds connected to #SkiLakeTahoe and each resort’s hashtags respectively.
  • Interactive map of resort locations around Lake Tahoe in a trail map style.
  • Uniform resort pages that provide bite-size resort information and relevant links.

The new website design is deceptively minimalist and makes a statement about the level of its resorts: unmatched in location and offerings.

D4 continues to work on the new site’s SEO maintenance and reporting.
